2011 Comic Relief

Our staff contributed to another record breaking year for Red Nose Day 2011 by dressing in as much red as possible for our 'Keep It Red' theme. The Company's sports and social committee 'Fun Central' organised games of mini golf, a cake sale and the good humoured Customer Services Supervisors participated in a poll vote that saw the winner with a custard pie in their face. A fantastic effort was made and we raised almost £1000 for Comic Relief.

2011 Various Charities

Three members of our staff raised thousands of pounds for charity by running either the Brighton or London marathon in April. The intrepid runners were sponsored by friends and colleagues to complete the 26 mile race for their charity of choice. Collectively they raised around £5800, which went to three worthy causes; St Catherine's Hospice, Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research and The Stone Community 1st Responders.

2011 Trailwalker

1ST Central has taken an active approach to raising funds for the Oxfam Trailwalker. We entered 2 teams into the 61.5 mile trek across the South Downs to earn support for Oxfam and the Ghurkha Welfare Trust. After months of training, torrential downpours and several injuries our walkers were able to celebrate their achievement; over £5000 raised for the Trailwalker. A significant £500 of the huge total was raised by one of our staff members who volunteered to cycle over 25 miles to work to earn donations for Trailwalker.

2011 Purple Pinky

The Purple Pinky charity held a week-long fundraising campaign to raise awareness of the desperate plight of children all over the world suffering from Polio disease. Our staff joined the battle to put an end to Polio by dressing in purple for ‘Wear it Wednesday’ and donating to the cause. We were also delighted to add our support to the local Katherine Jenkins Concert at Victoria Park, Haywards Heath, which helped to raise a considerable amount for the campaign.

2010 Chestnut Tree House
As a large local employer, 1st Central is committed to supporting local charities, and in 2010 we supported West Sussex-based children’s charity Chestnut Tree House. Chestnut Tree House is the only children's hospice in Sussex and cares for children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with progressive life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses from all over the county. Families are not charged for their care and the hospice receives very little government funding so it relies almost entirely on the generosity, help and support of the people of Sussex.
2010 Children in Need
Children in Need is the BBC's UK corporate charity, and helps improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. Staff at 1st Central supported
this fantastic cause by bringing in their pounds and wearing their pyjamas, and we managed to raise over £477 in 2010.
2010 Sports Relief
1st Central got active and donated over £1000 to Sports Relief in 2010. A team of workers across the organisation partook in the Sports Relief Mile hosted at a local secondary school. All the money raised by the public is spent by Comic Relief to help transform the lives of poor and vulnerable people, both at home and across the world’s poorest countries.
2008-2010 Cancer Research UK
Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. They’ve saved millions of lives with groundbreaking work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. Cancer Research UK’s vital work is funded entirely by the public, and will help to ensure that millions more people survive. 1st Central has continuously supported this cause, wearing pink for breast cancer awareness, chest and leg waxing, and entering a team for race for life; raising over £3000 in the last 2 years.
2008 Jeans for Genes
The money 1st Central raised, before the Company had even started trading, helps Jeans for Genes to fund the care and support children need now, and the research that could change their lives in the future. 1st Central was able to donate £61.00 that Jeans for Genes gave to charities who need funds for both research and care for children living with a genetic condition.
